Barcelona and Juventus came close to pulling off a big-name swap deal in January, it has been revealed.

Cataluyna Radio says during the winter market, the two giants were in active negotiations over a swap involving Ivan Rakitic and Douglas Costa.

Barca were willing to send Rakitic to Turin in a straight exchange for Brazil international Douglas Costa.

Juve initiated the talks and were willing to part with Douglas Costa to get the deal done, but in the end terms couldn't be struck.

In the meantime, there remains a willingness inside Barca to offload Rakitic this summer.
