Arsenal are competing with Everton for Ipswich Town fullback Tyrone Mings.
The Sunday Express says Mings was also the subject of a failed £3 million bid from Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window.
The Gunners sent chief scout Steve Rowley to update their dossier on Mings at Portman Road yesterday in the Championship game against Blackburn Rovers.
Everton and Sunderland are also interested in the player but Arsenal lead the interest in a player who started life in the Southampton academy.
