Retiring Stoke keeper Sorensen to cycle 4000 miles across America

Stoke City back-up goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen is set to cycle 4000 miles across America after he hangs up his boots in the summer.

The former Denmark international, who made 101 appearances for his national team, has tweeted details of his epic bike ride from the US' east to west coast in aid of charity.

Sorensen, who is 39 in June, explained: "I decided last summer, coming into my last year @stokecity, that this would be the right time in my career to give something back.

"I will be cycling 4000 miles across America in aid of sick children and live out a life long dream.

"An idea was forged 2yrs ago. After a lot of preparation and hard training I am now 2mths away from taking on a huge challenge."

Sorensen will leave the Britannia Stadium after seven seasons and 129 first-team appearances since joining the club in 2008 from Aston Villa.
