Robin van Persie was preparing to force a move out of Manchester United before David Moyes' sacking.
The Mail on Sunday says had Moyes not been shown the door, Van Persie was poised to try and force through a move.
Italian clubs Juventus and AC Milan as well as PSG and Monaco in Ligue 1 have been made aware of Van Persie's position.
The two Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona would also be interested given the player's fee could be as low as £20m.
But his position could now change especially if the club appointed his national manager Louis van Gaal.
