Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has revealed it was Pepe Reina's decision to let Brad Jones taste Europa League football last night.
The Aussie goalkeeper kept a cleansheet in their 0-0 with FC Utrecht.
Hodgson said: "He (Reina) actually helped me (make the decision). He did say after the Steaua game he would like to give Brad a chance in the next game, and then we found out the Australian national coach was coming to the game tonight.
"So in actual fact, it wasn't difficult because he realises this was a chance for Brad to show what he can do in front of his national coach.
"The thing about Pepe is he just loves to play, but he made it very easy for me I've got to say."
