West Bromwich Albion legend Cyrille Regis is delighted seeing Peter Odemwingie stay at the Hawthorns.

Regis feels the departure of Odemwingie would have been a huge blow.

"Albion have some top-class strikers so to lose Peter Odemwingie would have been a big loss for the club," Regis told the Birmingham Mail

"You need four good strikers to get through a season due to injuries, loss of form, changes in formation.

"Peter is a guy who can score goals too - those aren't easy to come by in the Premier League.

"And I'm a firm believer that if you sign a three or four-year contract then you should be expected to honour that, despite the player power we have."
