Referee Mallenco wouldn't listen says Celtic's Lustig

Celtic defender Mikael Lustig has revealed that he and his teammates tried to bring the grappling tactics of Juventus to the attention of referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco on Tuesday night.

On a number of occasions in the 3-0 Champions League defeat, Hoops players were unfairly held off the ball at set-pieces and Lustig feels the match official got it horribly wrong.

"They used a lot of arms when they were defending set-pieces," he said.

"We tried to speak to the referee, but he just wouldn't listen. "If he'd looked closely at the Juventus players, they weren't even looking at the ball. All they did was look at the player and wrap their arms around us. It's really tough to score like that."

Regarding the return leg in Turin on March 6, the Swede added: "Over the game, Juve only created four of five chances and scored three goals. We've created 13 maybe and not scored.

"Of course it's going to be really tough in the second leg, but we need to hope for a miracle."
