Ref Anthony Taylor regrets giving Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling his penalty during their victory over Stoke City.
The Daily Mail says Taylor has accepted he was duped into awarding a spot-kick after Raheem Sterling went to ground under a challenge from Marc Wilson. Steven Gerrard converted to restore Liverpool's lead at 3-2.
Stoke manager Mark Hughes was upset at the 'soft nature' of the decision and even Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers called it a 'Spanish penalty'.
Taylor has since looked at replays and told associates that he was wrong to give the foul. He may put that into his report and is likely to make a private apology to Hughes.
