Ref Mark Clattenburg is at the centre of a new Premier League controversy.

The Daily Star says Clattenburg was at the centre of another storm after Manchester City accused him of getting ace Gareth Barry banned.

Barry has been hit with a one-match suspension after admitting swearing at Clattenburg at the end of last weekend's Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium.

Clattenburg was the fourth official and reported Barry's foul and abusive language to referee Martin Atkinson which led to the midfielder being charged.

But the champions insist the England star was reacting to comments made by Clattenburg. The Blues have refused to reveal what Clattenburg said, but have complained to the FA. And boss Roberto Mancini has hit out at the official for his role in the incident.
