Ref admits to Real Madrid ace Vinicius Jr: I was wrong about penalty

Referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea admitted to Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Jr he missed a penalty call on Saturday.

Real Madrid drew at Sevilla, having a penalty denied by De Burgos, with two goals also disallowed by VAR.

A conversation between Vini Jr and De Burgos at halftime has come to light with the ref admitting an error.

“I was wrong for that one, of course I was, Vini. Yes, I have told you," De Burgos confessed to Vinicius, when the Brazilian complained and asked for explanations as to why the referee did not whistle for the push he received inside the area from Jesús Navas.

After the game, Real coach Carlo Ancelotti sarcastically said: "I think the referee played a good game, right in everything. He stopped the counter to preserve the health of a player. My opinion is that he played a high-level game. If I say what I think, I get a lot of (banned) games. And what I like the most is sitting on the Real Madrid bench so, to avoid suspensions, I don't say what I think."
