QPR boss Harry Redknapp has warned Tim Sherwood he can't always fit in on-loan Tottenham midfielder Tom Carroll.
Redknapp explained league rules over loans leaves him no choice.
Harry said: "We could name only five loans at Brighton on Tuesday.
"With Kevin Doyle out as well as Charlie (Austin), (Modibo) Maiga had to be involved up front - so someone had to sit out and unfortunately it was Tom.
"Tim can want, but it's up to me - and I've got to do what's best for the club. If I loan players out I can't tell the manager to pick them no more than Tim can tell me."
