Record DAZN viewers for Milan derby

DAZN's live coverage of Serie A's Milan derby was watched by more than 2.2 million people in Italy, a record in the country for the digital subscription sports media company, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/

The game between city rivals AC Milan and Inter Milan on 21st February was also streamed by 50 per cent of those who tuned in, DAZN confirmed. The new record audience beats the previous high when the two Milan clubs met on 21st September 2019. That game managed a peak audience of 1.6 million, a difference of 38 per cent.

The match saw Inter run out 3-0 winners, a result which saw them move four points clear of their city rivals at the top of Serie A.

The viewing figures will bolster the case for DAZN's bid to secure domestic rights to Italian top-flight soccer as it demonstrates the UK-based company's reach in Italy.

DAZN is hoping to see off competition from pay-TV rival Sky Sports, which has bid a reported €750 million (US$911 million) a year.
