Liverpool legend John Aldridge rates Simon Mignolet ahead of the likes of Bruce Grobbelaar and Pepe Reina.

Aldridge explained in the Liverpool Echo: "At the other end of the pitch Simon Mignolet has been our best player for me for the past two months or so.

"When you think back, he was shot to bits, when you looked at him he seemed vacant. Your mindset affects your game and his confidence was so low you thought he'd gone.

"He got a little bit of luck when Brad Jones - who wasn't playing well either - was injured and he got his opportunity. He's changed his career around.

"He's coming off his line for crosses, he's punching, he's commanding his area.

"We know he's always been a terrific shot-stopper, the best Liverpool have had since Ray Clemence I believe.

"His kicking still isn't great but he's just getting it up the field now which is all that's needed."
