Real Zaragoza are keen on Real Madrid defender Christoph Metzelder.

Zaragoza want to sign the Germany international in January, particularly with Roberto Ayala indicating an ambition to return to Argentina at River Plate.

Real coach Manuel Pellegrini, however, is reluctant to part with Metzelder unless a replacement is signed - especially with Pepe ruled out for the season.
