Reports emanating in Spain suggest that Liverpool had Inigo Martinez watched on the weekend.
According to the Daily Star, Spanish journalist Kike Marin claims that the Reds sent scouts to Catalonia on Saturday to cast an eye over the Real Sociedad defender who was in action against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.
It is believed that Liverpool are contemplating a summer move for the 23-year old centre-back who has a release clause of £21.7million.
Martinez, who has one Spanish cap to his name, has been with the Basque club since his youth days and has been in fine form under former Everton manager David Moyes of late.
