Real Salt Lake intent on proving the doubters wrong

Reigning MLS champions Real Salt Lake are determined to prove the many doubters wrong by taking out the title this season.

To some, RSL were a surprise winner of the 2009 championship but coach Jason Kreis believes his team thoroughly deserved the win and is planning on going back-to-back.

"Some people thought that we were fortunate to win the MLS Cup in 2009," said Kreis. "The fact is we're a very good team and we deserved that title and we're in a position to defend it again this year."

Goalkeeper Nick Rimando was expecting an action-packed final regular season weekend as RSL chase the minor premiership, the Supporter's Shield, with an away clash at Colorado Rapids where they need a win and hope league leaders LA Galaxy lose to FC Dallas.

"There's some drama heading into this weekend," Rimando said. "We want to win the Supporter's Shield and it's good to have something to chase all the way to the playoffs."
