Tottenham have revived their interest for Real Madrid striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
Real Madrid have already accepted a £15.5million bid from Stuttgart that could rise to £17.2m, but the 25-year-old is in no rush to complete the move and will wait to see what other offers arise.
The Daily Mail says Spurs spoke to Madrid last month about a triple swoop for Huntelaar, Arjen Robben and Gabriel Heinze after initially considering former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The players' high wages and desire for Champions League football proved a stumbling block. However, despite having many admirers, other bids for Huntelaar have barely materialised.
Roma are keen but do not have the funds to make a move and Stuttgart and Spurs are currently the only two teams in the race for a player who only left Ajax in January.
