Real Madrid are refusing to meet Tottenham's price for Luka Modric.
The Sun says Real manager Jose Mourinho is keen to pay no more than £27m for Modric.
But the Spanish giants are willing to offer players in exchange, including 34-year-old centre-back Ricardo Carvalho, formerly of Chelsea.
