Cristiano Ronaldo apologised to Real Madrid teammates immediately after their victory over Almeria. Marca says back in the locker room, Ronaldo said sorry for his red card and also for ignoring the goal celebration for Karim Benzema.

Benzema confirmed the actions last night, saying: "In the dressing room he told us he was sorry.

"What happened is something that can happen to anyone. Surely he was disappointed for missing the penalty but after that I was glad to score. He is a great professional and he wants to help the team win."
