Real Madrid skipper Ramos missing until March after knee surgery

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is expected to miss six weeks as he undergoes knee surgery.

Cadena COPE says Ramos will have to have an operation in the coming days on a meniscus injury in his left knee and will be out for around six weeks, so he will miss the Champions League tie against Atalanta.

Madrid's medical staff have recommended the defender undergoes surgery to fix the problem that has seen him miss four of his side's six games in 2021. He played against Athletic thanks to pain-killing injections.

Given that he will 'only' be ruled out for a month and a half, Ramos has decided to take the surgery route to ensure he's ready for the final stage of the season.

However, he will miss the Champions League last 16 and the derby against Atletico Madrid at the start of March.
