Real Madrid scorer Marcelo defends scattergun Robben

Marcelo was delighted to again be Real Madrid's matchwinner after their 1-0 victory at Recreativo Huelva. The Brazilian wing-back emerged from the game beaming and declared: "Yes, I am pleased, but the important thing is to continue putting pressure on Barca every week.

"We are here to fight, like all previous weeks. We have nothing else to do than to fight for three points, we must always win both at home and away."

Quizzed about complaints from fans over the poor distribution of teammate Arjen Robben, Marcelo insisted: "He has his style of play, sometimes he prefers to shoot before making a pass. Nothing is wrong, because in other games he has greatly helped the team."

Asked if he would like to play as a left-winger, Marcelo cleverly replied: "I would just like to play! Either at fullback or in attack, I will play where the coach wants me."
