Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has revealed he beat Sir Alex Ferguson to appointing Carlo Ancelotti last summer.
Perez claims Ferguson wanted the then PSG coach to succeed him at United last year.
"Ferguson called him to be his heir, but he (Ancelotti) told him that he already promised to come to us," recalled Perez.
The former Chelsea manager led Real to a tenth Champions League triumph on Saturday.
