Real Madrid president Florentino Perez says they should be regarded as the best club of the 21st century.

Perez made the claim at a book presentation today.

He declared, "Madridistas and fans who feel passionate about football in any corner of the world will never forget how the 14th was achieved. In 120 years of our history we have experienced episodes that have contributed to magnify the legend of Real Madrid and gather thousands of followers around our universal values.

"The magical nights at the Bernabéu are explained by these values. Real Madrid never gives up and gives everything until the end. This is the explanation for what happened last season, with players who feel this shirt and who fit in with the values that make up our identity. And with a coach, Ancelotti, who has been able to create a family.

"Everything we have experienced has been thanks to the passion and unity of the entire Madrid family who have supported the team in the most difficult moments.

"This mix of talent and commitment from our players, the coach and our fans has made the Bernabéu once again a magical territory in which the fans have seen their dreams come true.

"All this has to to frame it in one of the most spectacular winning cycles in our history, with five 'Champions' in nine years that strengthen us to be recognised as the best club of the 21st century."
