Real Madrid will make a new assault on Manchester United for striker Wayne Rooney next year. Having prised Cristiano Ronaldo away over two years ago, Real president Florentino Perez is now putting a package together to convince United to sell Rooney.
El Economista says Florentino is working with Real coach Jose Mourinho to bring Rooney to Madrid.
Mourinho is a huge fan of Rooney's and has made it no secret he would love to work with the England ace.
Should Real fail in their shock bid, they are expected to then revive their long-term interest in Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente.
