Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is eager to revive his bid for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney. Sport says Florentino plans to demand Rooney should United make concrete their interest in Real midfielder Sami Khedira.

United are willing to spend £15 million on Khedira and have also enquired about Lassana Diarra. A swap even involving Kaka is being floated.

Florentino is prepared to bid £60 million for Rooney and include players to drive down the cash component.

He intends to fund the sale partly by selling Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain for £40 million.
