Real Madrid No2 Aitor Karanka admits Karim Benzema was dropped for victory over Rayo Vallecano.

The French striker has struggled for goalscoring form since the turn of the year.

Karanka said: "The decisions that are taken are always for the good of the team. It's the same when it comes to who's called up. We look to have people on the bench who can contribute."
