Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos says Bayern Munich didn't want him to leave last summer.

Kroos has enjoyed an impressive first season in Madrid.

"What convinced me was I decided I needed to try something new," Kroos told BILD.

"Conversations with (Pep) Guardiola were always positive, it made me happy to be on his team. (Mathais) Sammer also tried to convince me to stay, he came to my house to change my mind.

"We always had good contact and he wanted me to stay."
