Real Madrid hat-trick ace Cristiano Ronaldo was delighted to clinch the Club World Cup.

The Portuguese forward was also man of the match in the final after scoring a hat-trick against Kashima Antlers.

Ronaldo stated: “It has been a dream year, really great. I didn't think it would end like this: winning the final, scoring three goals and helping Real Madrid.

“We played well, having to suffer a fair bit, but finals are like that: you have to suffer. This is trophy we really wanted and we wanted to end the year in the best way possible. Everyone always expects more from Cristiano, I always give my best and if I can't do it it's because I'm unable.

"It was a week full of great moments after having won the Ballon d'Or and now the Club World Cup, so it really is a perfect end to the year. I'd like to thank my teammates yet again, because Cristiano cannot win individual trophies without them."
