Real Madrid fullback Alvaro Arbeloa is eyeing a return to Liverpool.

The Daily Express says Real boss Carlo Ancelotti currently favours 23-year-old Dani Carvajal, who has done little wrong at right-back this term.

And according to sources in Spain, Arbeloa, 31, is hoping to jump ship before the transfer window closes in a bid to gain regular football.

Arsenal and Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for his services during the summer.

However, Arbeloa is reportedly favouring a return to Anfield, with Reds boss Brendan Rodgers looking to replace Glen Johnson.
