Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane says the club must secure Sergio Ramos to a new contract.

The captain is in tense negotiations over a new deal, with Real reluctant to go beyond a rolling 12 month deal for the 34 year-old.

Ramos scored in yesterday's victory over Mallorca and Zidane said: "The extension of Sergio Ramos? He's a Real Madrid player.

"He has been here for several years. He has to retire here.

"That's what I think and I will always say it."
