Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has explained why Sergio Ramos has decided to have a knee operation.
The Real Madrid captain hasn't featured since the Supercopa de Espana defeat to Athletic Club January 14 and it was reported this Saturday that surgery is required.
"It was important for him," Zidane said on Ramos' situation, speaking after Real Madrid's 2-1 win at Huesca.
"[The operation] had to be done and he's fine with it. It had to be done because he was at the limit.
"He'll start his recovery from tomorrow [Sunday]."
