Real Madrid coach Zidane defends players after Spurs defeat

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane defended his players after their Audi Cup defeat to Tottenham.

Zidane has assured Real Madrid fans that he is confident in his current squad ahead of the new season.

The Real Madrid boss was speaking after Los Blancos' 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in what was a lacklustre performance from the Spanish side.

Zidane believes the team are heading in the right direction after their humiliating 7-3 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

"We were better and what we have to do is improve every day," Zidane told the press.

"I'm not happy with the defeat, but we were better."

Had it not been for Keylor Navas, Tottenham's winning margin would've been greater, so is Zidane thinking twice about making Thibaut Courtois first-choice goalkeeper?

"Keylor was very good," Zidane said, "but it's all clear. It's clear for everyone. We're all in the same team."
