Real Madrid captain Raul was delighted to equal the club's scoring record in victory over Numancia yesterday.

Raul struck his 307th goal for the club - the same as Alfredo di Stefano - in the 2-0 victory and remarked afterwards: "The most important thing is the victory.

"It's nice to equal Alfredo's record, I hope to better it in the coming games.

"Alfredo has urged me to do it as soon as possible so we both aren't badgered by you journalists!"

Raul added: "We've cut Barcelona's lead to nine points and now we'll wait to see if they win tomorrow. We must continue along these lines."
