Real Madrid bring forward plans for Chelsea defender Rudiger

Real Madrid are ready to bring forward transfer plans for Chelsea defender Toni Rudiger.

Rudiger comes off contract at the end of the season and is free to negotiate pre-contract terms with foreign teams from January 1. He has been linked with Bayern Munich, PSG and Real as talks with Chelsea stall.

Onda Cero via Le 10 Sport says Real are now discussing the prospect of bidding for Rudiger in January in order to bring him to Spain midseason.

Real are struggling with defensive issues and failed to replace Sergio Ramos (PSG) and Raphael Varane (Manchester United) after their summer departures.

It's been suggested persoanal terms with Rudiger's agents have been agreed for some months.

With Chelsea, Rudiger helped Chelsea win the Champions League last season, having started the year out of the team under former manager Frank Lampard. However, ever since the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as manager, Rudiger has re-established himself as a key member of Chelsea's senior leadership group.
