Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Jr: I am against racism not Spain

Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Jr admits he's considered leaving due to the racist barracking he receives.

Vinicius Jr will play for Brazil tonight against Spain with the theme of 'combatting racism' in support of the Real star.

At his media conference, the attacker said: "I have thought so much about leaving here... Because if I leave here, I am going to give the racists what they want. I want to stay here, in the best club in the world, so that they continue seeing my face.

"I continue to evolve for these things, to be the joy of all the people who go to the stadium. Racists are a minority, and it doesn't always happen. But since I'm daring, I'm from Madrid, the best club in the world. It's complicated.

"But I'm going to continue, because the president supports me, the club supports me... If I leave it would be the triumph of the racist."

He also said: "As I mentioned at the beginning, right? With each complaint, more and more people insult me because they think I am against Spain. I am not against Spain. I am against all the racists that exist in the world, whether they are Brazilian or anywhere else.

"I am against all of them and I want equality for all of us. After a year, I have had many contacts, meetings and conversations with so many people who really want to move things forward, and some who just want to hear what I have to say and don't want to move forward. Every day I have to show my face here so that those who appreciate me speak well of me and those who don't speak badly of me.

"I have to try to assimilate all this because big federations and important people in the world can do it together with me, but sometimes they are afraid. As I mentioned before, I always ask for help from FIFA, UEFA, Conmebol, CBF, which are large groups that can really combat this. LaLiga is evolving, it is trying to improve, but things in Spain do not allow them to do as much. So sometimes it is also complicated that I cannot talk about LaLiga, that LaLiga has had some meetings with me and they want to evolve, but since racism is not a crime here, it is a bit complicated for them.

"They are trying to change, the players are always helping me and I am very grateful to all the players who, every time they come here at the press conference, talk about this, which gives me more strength to continue fighting for those who really suffer every day."
