Championship club Reading have parted company with manager Nigel Adkins.
The Royals have opted to relieve Adkins of his duties in the wake of Saturday's 6-1 loss to Birmingham City which saw them drop to 16th on the second tier table.
Adkins took the reins of the Berkshire club in March 2013, replacing Brian McDermott, after a little more than a two-year spell as boss of Southampton.
He departs the Madejski Stadium effective immediately alongside assistant Andy Crosby and coach Dean Wilkins.
"The board of Reading Football Club have this afternoon relieved manager Nigel Adkins of his duties," read an official club statement.
"The club met with Nigel in person today and we would like to place on permanent record our thanks to him for his hard work and diligence since his appointment in March 2013.
"The board of Reading Football Club are committed to taking this club forward and will make a further announcement to our supporters in due course."
