Reading boss Steve Coppell says he won't stop Nicky Shorey and Leroy Lita from joining a big club.
Coppell told the Reading Evening Chronicle: "It's all about personalities and individual circumstances. You have to apply common sense to each individual situation.
"I hope they don't go anywhere but it's status quo at the moment. Both have two years left and that's the way it works."
The Royals insist they have received no official bids for any of their first-team players and Coppell stressed he always lets his players know when other clubs show their interest.
"I've always found truth is the best policy," he said. "Whenever someone comes in for a player I tell them.
"Maybe there have been one or two over the past dozen years I haven't told but most of the time I'm open and honest."
And he insisted the chances of a player submitting a transfer request are extremely slim.
"The player would have top come out and say 100% that he didn't want to play for me any more," he stated. "But I can't see that being the case.
"There's a great atmosphere here and I'm never obstructive to anybody. But I admit I'm glad the season has started so that people can talk about something else."
