Reading boss keen to avoid Chelsea tension

Petr Cech will return to Reading on Wednesday for the first time since fracturing his skull in last October's match.

The Chelsea goalkeeper sustained the injury after a collision with Stephen Hunt, while his replacement Carlo Cudicini was also knocked unconscious late in the game.

"I don't know whether it did leave bad blood between the clubs," Coppell told Sky Sports News.

"It's something we hate to see on the football field but we've regretted the whole incident and would like to put it behind us.

"We want 90 minutes of competitive football, but after that we shake hands and hopefully it won't be a problem."

Coppell also clarified that quotes attributed to Hunt this week were in fact taken from last season, stressing that his player had not spoken about the incident recently.

Hunt was left out of the return game at Stamford Bridge last season but Coppell has confirmed he will play on Wednesday.

"He will play tomorrow night," said Coppell.
