Reading boss Clarke explains recalling Drenthe from Sheffield Wednesday as China beckons

Royston Drenthe is expected to leave Reading this month.

The Dutchman doesn't appear to be in the plans of Reading boss Steve Clarke and has offers from China.

Drenthe spent part of this season on-loan with Sheffield Wednesday, but has since returned to the Madejski.

He is now in talks with Reading about either a release from his contract or allowing him to move to Asia on-loan.

Royals boss Clarke said: "The club called him back from Sheffield because there's an opportunity for Royston to get another move.

"It's progressing but until it actually happens it's only speculation so we'll have to wait and see.

"But it looks in all probability that he'll be going somewhere else for the second half of the season.

"If it comes off then it will be permanent."
