Reading boss Nigel Adkins says he'll spend carefully in the transfer market.
Adkins vows there will be no big change under his watch.
The ex-Southampton boss said: "It's not for me to talk about other clubs. Everybody has their own thoughts on how a club should be run.
"Every club has its own issues to deal with. All I can do is concentrate on what is happening at Reading and cut our cloth accordingly.
"Look at the amount of clubs that have gone into administration. Take Portsmouth. They won the FA Cup and were in the Premier League. Now look where they've gone.
"At the time the supporters loved it but nobody wants to lose their club or face the sort of heartache their fans have had to go through.
"Yes, you want to win things but likewise you want to make sure you still have a football club. That's the responsibility of those who finance the club."
