Rayo Vallecano keeper Luca Zidane: Positives and negatives to my surname

Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper Luca Zidane says there's "positives and negatives" having his surname.

The son of Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane left the Los Merengues last summer to join Rayo in the Segunda Division.

Luca told Foot Mercato: "There are positives and negatives. Obviously, I'm very happy with what my father did and what he continues to do.

"But I've been used to it since I was little, you have to accept it. As long as you are not in the place of the son, you cannot know what it is like. People think you are there because you are such a son. But it has a lot of downsides.

"A player, you have to let him work, progress and grow, regardless of his last name. He should not be treated differently from other players. In the team, in the end it is the one who does things the best who plays. From the outside, it is very easy to say that you play because you are the son of such. They don't know the situation or your qualities."
