Raul Meirelles has reportedly travelled to England to discuss the possibility of joining Bournemouth.

According to Turkish publication Haber7, the Portuguese midfielder has his heart set on a Premier League return with his contract at Fenerbahce gets set to expire at the end of the month.

Relegated Aston Villa were said to be keen on the 33-year-old but it is now understood that the Cherries have jumped to the front of the queue.

Meireles spent one season at both Liverpool and Chelsea a few years back and is now on the verge of an English top flight comeback having spent the past four years in Istanbul with Fener.

Portuguese clubs Porto and Braga have reportedly made offers for Meireles but Bournemouth have now opened talks with the Champions League winner.
