Roma coach Claudio Ranieri concedes they were fortunate to escape with a draw in yesterday's 1-1 result with Catania.
Daniele De Rossi snatched a last-gasp equaliser away to Catania after Taka Morimoto had opened the scoring in the first half.
"It is a precious result, but I realise it's a step back in terms of performance. We knew that it was tough to face Catania, that they kept the tempo up and wouldn't give us time to think," said the Coach.
"We did not play well. All we had today was that great hunger not to drop points and we managed it at the death.
"We were always late on defending from set plays and that is another step backwards. On the goal Catania players got the ball three times ahead of my men until eventually it went into the net.
"It is a step back because we lacked the determination that I always expect to see from the kick-off. If we don't have that, then any tactic in the world won't get us anywhere."
