Hibernian boss Mixu Paatelainen is hopeful that Dean Shiels will remain at Easter Road beyond the summer. Reports claimed Rangers chief Walter Smith was interested in the 23 year old Northern Ireland international along with several Championship clubs.

The Hibs manager said: "I have spoken to Dean and the talks carry on.

"I don't want to go into speculation about his future any more. He is our player and is doing a fantastic job for us."
