Rangers target Advocaat to end managerial career at Sunderland

Dick Advocaat insists his final job in the managerial caper will be with Sunderland.

The Dutch tactician is tasked with the job of keeping the Black Cats in the Premier League which could occur if they manage to clinch at least a point against Arsenal on Wednesday night.

If the Wearside club survive in the top flight this term, Advocaat may go around again at the Stadium of Light, but if he does not remain the role, he will retire from coaching.

The former Zenit Saint Petersburg boss has been linked with a surprise return to Scottish club Rangers, with whom he won five trophies, but he has made it vehemently clear an Ibrox comeback is not an option.

"That is for sure," said Advocaat when asked if Sunderland would be his last job.

"I have been linked with Rangers but that is wrong. I went up there (earlier this month) and visited their training ground. That's the link but it's wrong."

He added: "I repeat - I have not made a decision yet on my future.

"I have not given Sunderland an answer, either one way or another. I will not do that until next week when I will let them know. No-one knows yet what I will do."
