Rangers are moving for Hearts goalkeeper Steve Banks.
Ibrox manager Walter Smith is prepared to let current No 2 Roy Carroll leave for Derby County once they have secured a replacement for the Northern Ireland international.
Banks is top of their list and it is understood an approach was yesterday made to the Tynecastle club for the 35-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
