Rangers ease to cup win over Forfar

Rangers progressed in the Homecoming Scottish Cup with a 4-0 win over Forfar at Station Park. The home side also had Elliot Smith red-carded with 20 minutes remaining.

The Gers will host Hamilton in the quarter-finals at Ibrox next month.

Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist said: "People said there was no football played in the Old Firm game on Sunday but I thought we tried to play too much football. There were too many touches on the ball.

"I wanted the ball played forward quicker and we did that after the second half.

"One or two things helped us in the second half, especially the sending off but I was delighted to see Kenny get two goals and delighted that Aaron scored.

"The keeper made a couple of unbelievable saves and Kenny could have scored three."

Forfar manager Dick Campbell had no complaints about the result but admitted he was frustrated by his side's defensive errors which cost them dearly.

He said: "Rangers were worthy winners. There are a lot of disappointed players in the dressing room but I don't think any of them let themselves down.

"I enjoyed the game even though we were tired at the end.

"We lost a goal in 15 minutes and I thought we might take a doing. "So I was happy enough at half-time even though we were one goal down.

"I didn't see the sending off but it didn't have a big bearing on the game although it had a bearing on our shape."
