Rangers avoid Celtic in Scottish League Cup draw

Glasgow rivals Rangers and Celtic have avoided an Old Firm clash following the quarter-final draw of the Scottish Communities League Cup yesterday.

Third Division 'Gers are the only non-Scottish Premier League remaining in the final eight and they have been drawn at home to play Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the next stage.

Their arch enemies Celtic, who sit on top of the top flight table, will host St Johnstone whilst last season's Scottish Cup winners Heart of Midlothian travel to Dundee United.

In the remaining tie, Aberdeen will play host to St Mirren with the matches to be played on Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 October.
