Rangers assistant McCoist confirms interest in AZ Alkmaar's Holman

Glasgow Rangers assistant coach Ally McCoist has confirmed the club is interested in AZ Alkmaar midfielder Brett Holman.

Last week, reports suggested that the Scottish Premier League champions were keen on the Australian international, but Holman came out and said he knew nothing of any curiosity from the Ibrox club.

Now McCoist has confirmed the both he and Rangers boss Walter Smith are fans of Holman although he admits there has been no enquiries made.

"Holman is certainly a player that I like and I know Walter likes him as well. I won't lie, he is someone who excites me," McCoist told SportTimes.

"I saw him a couple of times over at the World Cup in South Africa and he is a player who impressed me.

"He came on and took his goals well but there has been no contact made at all between ourselves and his club with a view to getting him involved with us."
