Ramos at Real Madrid farewell: I don't know Perez thoughts; Zidane like family

Departing Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos paid tribute to his coaches at today's farewell media conference.

Ramos leaves Real Madrid after 16 years with the club as his contract expires this month.

Asked about Carlo Ancelotti's arrival, along with Zinedine Zidane and Spain coach Luis Enrique, Ramos said: "Ancelotti, when he came out as new coach, I called him to congratulate him, nothing more. That's what I can tell you.

"For me, Zizou has earned being the best coach in history and one of the best of my career. He will always have a little hole in my heart. I keep a love for him as if he were family.

"Luis Enrique? I understand the decisions he makes. I will try to show my best level again to return to the national team. It saddens me not to be at the Eurocup, but I will fight to regain my best level."

On Zidane's open letter about not being valued, Ramos said: "Zidane? It is something that I cannot comment on. If you ask me about my situation I will stay with the treatment they have given me. If I told him to plan without me? When I had to say this, no one is above planning. So yes, I said it, but because no one is above this institution. The club's plan went ahead."

On his relationship with president Florentino Perez, he added: "I don't know what I would have done if I were president. I don't know what he thinks, it's a question I can't answer. It doesn't correspond to me.

"I have questions you have ... Yes, I have gotten answers. You have more questions than me. I am super proud of the event that you have made me enjoy and I keep that. I was given the opportunity to do a press conference and perhaps it would not have hurt that he was here."
